How to build your e-shop in 45 minutes

The importance of owning an e-shop is not to be proved anymore. With the number of online sales being in a steady and incredible growth for the last decade, businesses from all horizons have to get on the big train to success that is the internet. No matter what kind of products or services you sell, you will most definitely catch someone’s attention on the World Wide Web.

In this article, we’ll prove to you that starting to make revenue on the internet isn’t that hard. Just follow these few steps, and you’ll be ready to cash!

Find a name for your e-shop:

The name of your store will be the first thing to catch your customers’ attention. Bear in mind that it is not that important for the name to be unique and extra-creative. Keep it understandable and simple, google will take care of the rest! You can also use service like namelix to find a best and free name for your business. We suggest you check if the name is available under some good domain with use of godaddy.com for example

Get a logotype:

The interest in getting a unique logotype is – especially for new businesses, that it gives visual identity to your business. You can hire a designer from Fiverr to create it for you for as little as 5$. Fiverr is a great place to get your designs made. You can select from a huge variety of freelancers, get a preview of what they can do, and get the job done within a very reasonable time for competitive prices. For start you can choose a lowest price for the logotype, that can be delivered to you within hours. I suggest to speak to people there and ask if they are able to do that. Do not think about that to much, you can change your logotype faster. The goal here is to start your e-shop as soon as possible. You can even start your shop without that… but believe me getting branded is making you feel better in this process 🙂

Create an e-shop on Oshop:

The easiest way to build a shop is to use on of the free online shop generators or hosted services on the market. We build this shop based on oShop.me software, it’s easy and you can have it in minutes.

The first step is to, of course, open Online shop generator on your browser and create an account by providing your email and password!

After creating your account, define the name and add the logotype of your e-shop. You can skip for now additional information, you can add them later

Now, it’s time to select a domain name for your e-shop. You can also enter your own domain that you have bought in the process. I used a subdomain shop.simonpiekarz.com because it was faster. oShop allows also buy a new domain directly from the system which makes this process easy as 1,2,3

You can start adding your products to the e-shop now! Add a title, a description, a price and some engaging pictures. That system is full of additional settings, adjustments, etc. We want to start ASAP so you can do that later and focus now on completing the configuration as soon as you can

You also have to define a location for your products to be sold in. This is the step where you should define your shipping costs as well. There are different strategy for that. Depend where you want to sell you can disable or enable shipping costs. oShop allows to trade locally and globally. I made the shipping cost the same for every order to makes in simple!

That’s it! Your shop is up and running. Go to your domain or selected subdomain and you have your shop, but that’s not the end of the story. A shop need couple more things to be usable

Add payment gateways:

So the basic payment option in every online shop is wire transfer. As you probably know to sell online you need to add some kind of online payment system. You have a lot of choices, but the basic thing you should consider is a Paypal account. I personally recommend to add also stripe to support or major credit cards.:

You could add a wire transfer payment method to your e-shop, but keep in mind that most people prefer to pay online.

To allow people to pay via PayPal, start by creating a Paypal account and add its information to Oshop. There is a very beautiful tutorial how to do that at this page here When you obtain your client is and password simply enter those information to oShop

To allow people to pay via credit card, start by creating a Stripe.com account and add the account information to Oshop. Stripe is an online payment processing tool for internet businesses. First thing you need to do after registering account is to find API keys, you can find them here:

Next you need to enter them to oSHOP here:

And now people in your shop can pay with both methods:

Use Google Analytics on your e-shop:

You can’t be blind when you start your shop. oShop provides some basic information about people inside your shopping page, but to have a deeper overview from where they are coming you have to use other tools like Google Analytics:

Start by creating a Google Analytics account by logging in with your primary Google Account, or create it if you don’t have one already.

Next, add your Google Analytics credentials to the settings of your e-shop on Oshop.me

You can now begin tracking the activity on your e-shop and have an in-depth knowledge of the behaviour of its visitors!

Add a chat service on your e-shop:

Having a way to communicate with your customers in a timely manner is a huge plus for your e-shop. You can easily start messaging your customers in just 3 steps:

  • Create an account on the tawk.to website.
  • to is a free live chat support and messaging allowing you to reach out to your customers directly from your own website or mobile app.
  • Copy the code that was provided to you on Tawk.to and paste it on Oshop to start chatting with the visitors of your e-shop!
  • Do not forget to install the Tawk.to app on your phone, for your customers always to be within reach.

You can see it now, taking your business on the internet and boosting your sales have never been so easy. In just 6 easy steps and in under 45 minutes, your e-shop will be completely functional, and you will be able to start taking in customers. Oshop comes with a free 30-day trial during which you can enjoy it to the fullest, with all the features. After that, if you enjoy using it and wish to keep your e-shop alive, you can pay what you like! Starting from 1$ per month, you decide how much you want the fee to be.

All you have left to do is build a strong online presence for your business to stand out from your thousands of competitors. Gaining this kind of reach will require from you a smart and effective online strategy, but we’ll talk about that another time.
